Animax is the creative robotic entertainment powerhouse behind some of the largest themed experiences and global intellectual properties around the world.
Driven by a strong belief in partnership-based relationships, Animax has enjoyed a legacy of collaboration with some of the largest entertainment experiences throughout the years. As storytelling engineers, they bring unparalleled expertise and experience to design and build characters and other forms of entertainment robotics.
As an Industrial Design Engineer at Animax, I was tasked with the responsibility of seamlessly incorporating intricate mechanical designs into the visually appealing external forms of our products. Although Solidworks was primarily used for the final design, due to the complexity of the models and figures, we often had to utilize multiple software programs to achieve the desired results.
Effective communication across departments is essential for completing a project, as it may go through 10-15 different departments before reaching its final destination. As part of my role in the project, I am responsible for monitoring various aspects such as its 3D printability or moldability, compatibility with the mechanical body, visibility, core functionality, access points for the character, painting requirements, character detail preservation, and alignment with the creative vision, among others.
As a member of the Animax team, we are fortunate to work with major entertainment companies such as Disney and Universal. Due to our contractual obligations and NDA's, unfortunately, I am unable to share any photos of my work. However, I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
